The chase for a slot in the final of the UEFA Europa League is on and Rangers will be looking to use home advantage to get there as they host RB Leipzig in the return leg of their semi final clash. They warmed up well for this game with a 1-1 draw with archrivals Celtic in the Glasgow derby and they will be seeking a return to winning ways after two straight winless outings. They have scored in four of their last five matches but will be wary of the fact that they have no clean sheet in the period. Their home form should be an extra source of inspiration, having lost just once in the last 15 matches there, and won 12. This is also reflected in their Europa League journey; in five home matches in this competition, they haven’t lost, winning four and scoring two or more in each of the five.

Leipzig have a lot to play for at this stage of the season; they are eyeing the German Cup, a top four place in the Bundesliga and the Europa League as well. Unlike most of the teams playing in this competition, they can’t rest players. They are coming from a 3-1 loss to Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga. Having played a day after Rangers and with travel in the plans, there will be concerns about fatigue as they look to defend their slim lead. Two losses in their last three matches have dented their top four hopes and now winning the Europa League looks like their best bet to be in the Champions League next season. The Germans are the strongest defensively and this will be strongly tested going into this game, as they have managed just two clean sheets in their last six matches.
