Tip Hungary – England

Hungary plays host to England at the Puskás Aréna in this opening match of the United Nations League A. The hosts are playing in League A for the first time after having back to back promotions. They will be facing a baptism of fire against a strong England team. Hungary have won three of their last four matches with the only defeat coming against Serbia in a friendly international. They endured a mixed bag of results during the World Cup qualifiers as they finished fourth and will be disappointed that they were behind Albania in the final standings. Hungary have proven to be difficult to beat recently as they have only lost twice in their last seven matches across all competitions. Their record against England though is very poor as they have failed to win in their last 15 encounters dating back to 1962.

England are on a great run of results going unbeaten in their last nine matches across all competitions. The visitors last suffered a defeat in the Euro Championship final when they lost on penalties to Italy which remains their only loss in their last 22 matches. England had a fantastic World Cup qualifying campaign as they topped their group to book their ticket to Qatar. They went through the qualifiers undefeated with eight wins and two draws in their ten matches. One of the most amazing aspects of England’s qualifying campaign was that they scored 39 goals in ten matches while only conceding three.

ConclusionHUNGARY – ENGLAND

Hungary will have their work out for them as they have a dismal record against England but will take some confidence from their last meeting when they held the English to a 1-1 draw in a World Cup qualifier. England will want to set the record straight in this match and lay down a marker as one of the favourites to win this competition. We are backing the Three Lions for the win.
