Velez host Rosario Central at the Jose Amalfitani, being in penultimate place and hosting a Rosario who are on 17th place. It is now officially a bad start for the hosts. After an unexpected draw in the first round against Patronato, two defeats followed to ensure that Velez are still without a win in the new campaign. While they are tight in defence, there is a clear weakness to make chances count and that shows in the numbers. All four of the hosts’ latest games featured Under 2.5 goals, with Vélez scoring only twice in those games. They are relatively strong at home however lately, with three wins and two clean sheets in their last four games in front of their fans.

Rosario Central have started slightly better but many issues persist. They certainly didn’t light up the Copa Liga Profesional, finishing last of Group B in Argentina’s other league. The win against Godoy Cruz was vital however, as it came after two games when Rosario did not win and even failed to score. When it comes to their away form, it is far from encouraging, having lost all five of their last games away from Rosario. They have also failed to score in three of those games. In addition to all their travelling woes, they have lost four of the last five times they have travelled to play Vélez, conceding at least twice in all of these five games.
